Swimming Pool Pumps
The swimming pool pump is the heart of your system. It circulates the water around your pool system through the skimmers, filter and heater to keep it looking its best.

Swimming Pool Filters
The swimming pool filter circulates your pool water through layers of filter media (sand, zeoclere or A.F.M) to keep your pool looking pristine. They come in different sizes relevent to the size of your pool and should have the filter media changed every 5-7 years. A range of flocculants can be used in conjunction with the filter to aid the filtration process.
Multi-Port Valve
The multi-port valve controls the way water flows around your swimming pool system. The ports allow you to circulate, backwash, rinse, pump to waste, filter and close your system. For multiport valve operation click here.
Swimming Pool Heater
The swimming pool heater is in-line with the pump and filter. When the water flows through the heater it is passed through a series of tubes which are heated by a gas/oil burner, this in turn heats the water.
Swimming Pool Heat Exchanger
The swimming pool heat exchanger works by transferring the heat from your exsisting household heating system to your pool by pumping water through a series of small tubes (containing the heated water) that runs inside a larger tube (containing the pool water).
Swimming Pool Electric Heaters
Electric heaters are an alternative to standard gas/oil fired heaters. They have a range that is suitable to suit all pools - from above ground splasher pools to full size in-ground pools.
Automatic Swimming Pool Cleaners
Automatic swimming pool cleaners take the hassle out of pool maintenance. There are three main types of cleaners - electric, suction and pressure.
Swimming Pool Solar Covers
Solar covers retain heat by absorbing heat from the sun and then reflecting any escaping heat back into the pool. These covers vary in material and thickness as well as the percentage of solar gain they can. Poolclean can supply these nationwide, just contact us to place your order.
Swimming Pool Skimmer
The swimming pool skimmer is located at the top of the swimming pool wall. It is connected to pipes that run directly to the swimming pool pump. The draw of the pool pump creates a surface tension across the water so that any leaves/debris get drawn into the skimmer mouth and basket - effectively skimming the surface.
When using a suction swimming pool cleaner you can plug them into the hole at the bottom of the skimmer.
Double Union Ball Valve
The double union ball valve is most commonly found in the pipework just before the swimming pool pump. There are usually two or three of them and each one acts as a tap allowing water to flow between one part of the pool and the pump, allowing you to turn the skimmers or sump off individually.
Some pools don't have enough pressure in the system to vacuum effectively - so by turning the sump off, all the pumps power is being drawn through the skimmers, thus creating more pressure to vacuum with.
